The Best Friend You’ve Ever Had
To know Jesus Christ is to know the only person who will truly be your absolute best friend.
No one in this world has your best in their mind like the Lord Jesus.
He will pick you up when you have fallen down.
He will encourage you with His powerful love, wisdom, and perfect guidance.
He will carry you through the pain and hardship when you cannot walk any more.
John 17:3
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
The Majesty Of Love
We have all felt the pain and trauma of this fallen world and the agony of learning to cope with it.
We are all often so empty inside because we don’t think we have God’s love being unable to feel it or see it physically.
We will always feel empty inside without knowing who our Father is.
Jesus is the perfect expression of the Father in every way in human form.
Jesus loves you just like the Father does and will protect you just like the Father will.
This is why He died on the cross, to save us from Evil.
Take a look at what He says here in John 14:9
KJV (King James Version)
“Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”
ESV (English Standard Version)
“Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”
This means God wants to have a relationship with you that goes much deeper than talking, but rather you follow in His ways.
God wants you to abandon the things you currently think you want, for much better things.
Jesus is the one that fills every need in a person’s life from beginning to end.
A Relationship Based In Reality
Have you met someone that acted like they know you, but you have no clue who they are?
This is not a relationship with you, but rather someone who wants something from you.
It is how God often feels when someone is talking to Him.
Everyone acts like they know God, but few have really spent any time with Him.
Also, being around someone does not mean they have any relationship connection.
Consider how many people are shoved into a courtroom at once for “a purpose.”
They are all bound to that room by a common thread, but they have no relationship with anyone there.
Will they vouch for you when your name comes up in court?
I don’t think I need to elaborate on the subject for you to know they would likely not.
They don’t know you!
So to be where God is doesn’t really mean much if you don’t know Him.
There are millions of people who act like they know God, and say they know God.
But in all truth have we really spent time with God and given Him our heart?
The King’s Unfailing Love
While many people think He is too high minded to talk to, God is actually beyond humble.
While He was on the cross, Lord Jesus said this:
Luke 23:34
“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”
What if Jesus Christ was selfish like everyone else?
There is a clear distinction between how much we love people and how much Jesus Christ loves people.
He was asking The Father to forgive the people that were literally murdering Him!
This kind of love and humility is what sets Him above anything else we could ever know.
You Have Nothing Without Love
If you take the love out of something, you are left with nothing.
What if Jesus wasn’t love, what would be left of Him?
No one would be attracted to who Jesus is if His heart wasn’t pure and He didn’t love them.
They would be heartbroken and destroyed and what kind of fruit is that? Horrible Evil fruit.
God takes love extremely seriously.
Because God is love, He doesn’t “do” love.
There is nothing inside of God that is not love, it is literally all He is.
He is a gigantic heart of gold surging with tidal waves of love toward us.
God even gives this to us as the gauge for knowing how well we know Him.
1 John 4:8
“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
It doesn’t say God has love for you. It says God IS love.
This is the Image God made man in, the image of love, because that is God’s image. (Genesis 1:27)
We have the power in our hands to constantly see this light of truth by refocusing our attention on Jesus and the intensely fierce and overwhelming love He has for us to die for us all.
The more you refocus on the light of God’s love in Christ Jesus the more clearly you will see everything in life.
The Door Of Your Heart
In Revelation 3:20 Jesus states this:
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
Jesus is saying very clearly here that He wants to have a relationship with us.
No matter who we are or what we have done, if we are breathing God wants to give us another chance to meet Him.
A relationship means trust, and it means knowing who someone is.
Ever seen the husband and wife couples compete on who knows their partner best?
It becomes painfully obvious who is really in a deep and meaningful relationship, and who is disconnected from each other.
Sometimes these competitors hardly know anything about the other person.
But is there really a relationship there if they don’t know anything about each other at all?
No. There is no relationship there.
Meeting Love At Last
God doesn’t want to leave things like that between you and Him. It isn’t what He desires in His heart.
He wants you to know Him.
God wants to care for you and guide you through life holding your hand.
But there is much more to this person who is love than just sugary words.
He wants your heart:
Matthew 16:24
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
Jesus gave all of Himself to you, and He wants you to give all of yourself to Him.
Love moves mountains and will never fail you.
He wants to love you with such ferocity and such strength that when you realize how loved you really are you will become changed from the inside out.
When your cup is overflowing with God’s love, they won’t be able to drink your cup dry.
God’s love will be pouring over into your saucer where everyone is splashing in God’s love from you.
As you fill yourself with the Bible, which is God’s Spirit, you will begin to understand that God has always been trying to help you every day of your life.
God will give you revelations and experiences that are personal and customized to you.
Filled With The Love Of Christ
To know that you are approved and accepted by trusting in the blood of the Lord Jesus, His death and resurrection, is to have a joy that cannot be described.
He took the bullet for you and gave us all proof that we can trust Him with our life.
Jesus Christ isn’t just dying to meet you, He already died to make it happen.
Jesus never gets angry, will at times refuse to let you cry and make you laugh, and will hold your heart in His hands.
To know Jesus is to have an absolute certainty that you are loved and that He will never leave you under any conditions.
The faithfulness of Jesus Christ is unlike anything anyone has ever known.
While your friends may come and go and your loved ones in their limitations may let you down, Jesus will stick with you through the pain and the agony even with all your mistakes.
When He speaks to us it is in our heart, not in our ears.
That quiet voice of authority that says “I love you child” deep down in your soul, and gently reminds us of what we should be and should not be doing.
This is His voice, the sound of a calm friend gently pulling you away from certain disaster.
It is the sound of a person who is real, though you might not be sure of it yet.
Freedom For Your Soul
We have all found ourselves in this place in need of help, and many of us have done ourselves in.
But Jesus didn’t sit on the sidelines while you were suffering and you thought you were all alone.
He picked up a wooden cross and let men kill Him on it to set you free.
He wants to empower you with the love He has for you.
He wants to overwhelm you with just how deeply He truly cares for you.
Jesus doesn’t want to just adopt you into His family, but rather wants to fill you completely full of His endless over-powering love.
If taking the love out of something leaves you with nothing.
Maybe we should seek Jesus every day to be filled with more of everything.
Because that’s exactly what Jesus is for us!
Everything!
